Category A Subjects - Economics

Course Description

Preliminary Course [Board Developed] 2 units
HSC Course [Board Developed] 2 units

Economics is a subject that attempts to explain everyday things such as spending habits, business behaviour, house prices, the labour market, the stock exchange and exchange rates to name just a few. The subject allows students to explore the theory behind many of the policies implemented by governments. For example, what is a budget deficit and what is its impact on the economy? What are interest rates and how are they changed? It is also a contemporary subject looking at current issues such as unemployment, economic growth, inflation and the state of the global economy. It provides a valuable grounding for any tertiary study with a Commerce/Economics orientation.
