Exclusions: Music 2; Music Extension


In the Preliminary and HSC courses, students will study the concepts of music through learning experiences in performance, composition, musicology and aural within the context of a range of styles, periods and genres. In addition to core studies in performance, composition, musicology and aural, students nominate elective studies in Performance, Composition or Musicology. 

Music 1 students are not eligible to take Music Extension in Year 12.

  • Australian Music
  • Music for small ensembles
  • Music of the 20th and 21st centuries
  • Popular Music
  • Rock Music Technology and its influence on music

  • Aural Skills examination (consisting of written answers to musical stimuli)
