Biography

J. C. Burke is a young adult fiction writer.

Both of J. C.’s parents were authors; her father is the author and journalist, David Burke. J. C. initially trained as an oncology nurse after losing her mother to a prolonged battle with cancer, but shifted her direction into creative writing in 2000. Her first work was published in 2002.

She has written a number of novels including: The Things We Promise, Pretty Girl, Pig Boy, Ocean Pearl, The Story of Tom Brennan and The Red Cardigan.

J. C. has been nominated and won a number of literary awards including: the Ned Kelly Awards for Crime Writing, the Davitt Award, the Inky Awards and the Children’s Book Council Book of the Year (CBCA) Awards.
