Biography

James Phelan is a prolific young adult and children’s fiction writer.

James has published twenty-eight fiction titles and one non-fiction title since he began his writing career. His first published work was a non-fiction novel, Literati, an anthology of interviews held with notable Australian authors and literary figures. His forays into fiction began with his action-adventure series centering on Australian investigative journalist, Lachlan Fox – Fox Hunt, Patriot Act, Liquid Gold, and Blood Oil – and then moved onto other series such as: Alone, a young adult post-apocalyptic trilogy; Jed Walker series, a suspense thriller series; and, most recently, his fourteen book young adult adventure series, The Last Thirteen.

James has been nominated numerous times for Young Australians Best Book Awards (YABBA) and Kids Own Australian Literature Awards (KOALA), as well as accolades from the Australian Book Industry Awards (ABIA) and the Ned Kelly Awards for Crime Writing
