The syllabus includes Australian curriculum content and reflects the new directions of the Stronger HSC Standards reforms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>(Students in ESL English may struggle with the literacy and language requirements of the Chemistry course.)<\/p>\n<p>Chemistry can be studied ON ITS OWN or alongside ONE or TWO other Science courses.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Chemistry<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">is the study of matter and energy and the interaction between them.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0Chemical reactions are at the heart of all\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">processes within our bodies and in the world around us<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">, including the natural world and the industrial world.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">In our bodies we can use chemistry to explain metabolism and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">other biological processes that keep us healthy.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Chemical understanding is\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">also\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">used to develop useful new materials,\u202fpharmaceuticals, food products and industrial processes.
