Reminder – what to do if you’re travelling

If you’re travelling overseas (and as a general reminder of the provisions Newington College has taken to for the safety of the whole community during the coronavrius outbreak) please remember to take the following steps:

  • If your child shows flu-like symptoms such as fever or respiratory symptoms, including a cough, we encourage you to contact your GP and inform the school;
  • If your child has come into contact with a person who is known or suspected of having coronavirus, we ask that you keep him home for 14 days from the date of the last suspected exposure. Please also inform the College.

The College is monitoring the Australian Government’s Smart Traveller site and is also monitoring the advice of health authorities. The College may expand the list of countries beyond China, South Korea and Iran; an updated list will be provided to families immediately before the holidays and again before Term 2 starts. Italy, Cambodia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, and Mongolia – and many other countries – are being closely monitored. That list is expanding and the list of countries here should not be considered comprehensive.

Overseas tours planned for the April break have been cancelled. We are monitoring interstate tours and overseas tours planned for later in the year and we will be in touch with those families who have registered with more detail soon.

As well as the Smart Traveller site, daily updates from the Australian Government Department of Health can be found  here.
