It provides an environment in which all boys have the opportunity to maximise their potential. The College will continue to display innovation in curriculum development and teaching practice within the context of our specialist boys\u2019 education.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/insites.newington.nsw.edu.au\/newingtoncollegestrategicplan\/pillars-of-distinction\/well-being-character-service\/\">Well-being, Character and Service<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Newington College is committed to providing an environment where every person is treated with dignity and respect and is valued as a member of the school and wider community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/insites.newington.nsw.edu.au\/newingtoncollegestrategicplan\/pillars-of-distinction\/spirituality-values-ethics\/\">Spirituality, Values and Ethics<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Newington College is a learning community founded on and shaped by its Wesleyan Christian tradition. Since 1977 we have been in close association with the Uniting Church. The Uniting Church Education Charter includes the following elements. The Uniting Church;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Values all people as created in the image of God<\/li>\n<li>Believes that all people have rights and responsibilities for the well-being of society<\/li>\n<li>Understands that education is a \u2018lifelong journey by which all people develop the ability to participate in society and lead lives that are life creating and life sharing\u2019<\/li>\n<li>Encourages excellence in education by which the God given gifts and talents of people are fully developed<\/li>\n<li>Promotes the value of diversity in educational provision, expression and access<\/li>\n<li>Acknowledges the primary importance of families in the context of education of children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/insites.newington.nsw.edu.au\/newingtoncollegestrategicplan\/pillars-of-distinction\/co-curricular-engagement\/\">Co-curricular Engagement<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Co-curricular options that occur\u00a0outside the classroom provide\u00a0boys with opportunities to build\u00a0self-esteem, self-worth, skill\u00a0development, physical and\/or mental fitness, teamwork,\u00a0leadership and confidence.\u00a0Newington College encourages\u00a0participation in a wide range of\u00a0individual and team activities\u00a0to help with positive character\u00a0development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. <a href=\"https:\/\/insites.newington.nsw.edu.au\/newingtoncollegestrategicplan\/pillars-of-distinction\/community-in-partnership\/\">Community in Partnership<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Newington College is proud of our exceptionally strong sense of community held by boys, parents, staff, College Council and Old Boys. Since 1863, our culture has developed by placing a key emphasis on relationships and a commitment to serve others.
