Choice, Balance and Diversity<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><strong>a)<\/strong>\u00a0Ensure the College\u2019s curriculum provides choice and balance while acknowledging the changing expectations and requirements at community, state, national and international levels.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.1<\/strong> Ensure the stability of the school\u2019s academic program by sustaining high standards in compliance with state, national and IB curriculum regulations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.2<\/strong> Shape the implementation of Australian curriculum to ensure the best educational outcomes for Newington boys.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.3<\/strong> Develop and implement alternative curriculum options to suit all boys.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.4<\/strong> Develop and implement strategies to increase regional and global awareness across the curriculum.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.5<\/strong> Review choice of options within curriculums to provide flexibility and utilise teacher strengths.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.6<\/strong> Review the curriculum structure and options across Years 7\u201310.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.1.7<\/strong> Develop alignment of curriculum and teaching practices across the College with the philosophies of the International Baccalaureate Organisation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Priority 1.2 Uniqueness<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>b)<\/strong> Value individual differences and provide\u00a0for the different learning needs of all\u00a0boys through an inclusive curriculum\u00a0and outstanding teaching.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.2.1<\/strong> Ensure an integrated Years K\u201312 approach to learning enhancement.<br \/>\n<strong>1.2.2<\/strong> Develop and implement effective individual learning support and enrichment programs\u00a0for gifted students.<br \/>\n<strong>1.2.3<\/strong> Enhance curriculum differentiation for all boys across the College.<br \/>\n<strong>1.2.4<\/strong> Evaluate and modify all teaching and learning programs and initiatives in terms\u00a0of their ability to ensure the quality of academic performance of all boys.<br \/>\n<strong>1.2.5<\/strong> Review the provision of English as Second Language (ESL) and Life Skills programs.<br \/>\n<strong>1.2.6<\/strong> Clarify communication and monitoring systems for students with specific learning needs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Priority 1.3 Excellence in Educational Delivery<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>c)<\/strong> Apply effective learning theory to\u00a0develop and deliver high quality learning\u00a0and teaching programs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.3.1<\/strong> Integrate, embed and evaluate the learning frameworks for each campus. Continue the implementation of the Newington Learning and Teaching Framework (Secondary),\u00a0Building Learning Power Learning Framework (Wyvern) and the IB Primary Years Programme (Lindfield).<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.3.2<\/strong> Ensure that a holistic approach to academic learning is maintained through building and acknowledging the value of the co-curricular and well-being programs and their role in motivating and developing self-esteem and self-worth for boys in their learning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>1.3.3<\/strong> Implement and evaluate best-practice pedagogies to improve learning outcomes across Years 5-8.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>d)<\/strong> Foster a community of learners and\u00a0forge strategic alliances with other\u00a0educational institutions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1.3.4<\/strong> Develop clear and on-going links with TAFE, university and other educational providers\u00a0for the benefit of boys\u2019 learning and for staff professional development through action\u00a0research.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.3.5<\/strong> Continue to develop links with the parent community and Old Boys for\u00a0apprenticeships, vocational training, academic enrichment opportunities and as\u00a0mentors for boys.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.3.6<\/strong> Benchmark and share policies and practices with our Australian group of similar schools (GO8) and with our member International Boys\u2019 Schools Coalition schools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>e.\u00a0Develop high quality libraries to support the development of digital and information fluency across the curriculum and to foster a reading and literacy
