{"id":82,"date":"2018-10-24T03:41:31","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T03:41:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/insites.newington.nsw.edu.au\/newingtoncollegestrategicplan\/?page_id=82"},"modified":"2019-03-24T23:52:53","modified_gmt":"2019-03-24T23:52:53","slug":"community-in-partnership","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/insites.newington.nsw.edu.au\/newingtoncollegestrategicplan\/community-in-partnership\/","title":{"rendered":"Community in Partnership"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Priority 5.1 Our Proud History<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>a)<\/strong> Celebrate our proud history.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.1.1<\/strong> Foster our Archives Department and further develop growth and community awareness of the importance of archives to the operation of the College.<br \/>\n<strong>5.1.2<\/strong> Build upon the goodwill generated by the Sesquicentenary celebrations in 2013.<br \/>\n<strong>5.1.3<\/strong> Update Peter Swain\u2019s history book for the period 1999\u20132018 so that the College regularly records key facts and information.<br \/>\n<strong>5.1.4<\/strong> Acknowledge the contribution of Newington Old Boys to their local, national and international communities.<br \/>\n<strong>5.1.5<\/strong> Acknowledge the contribution of Newington Old Boys at the WWI and Anzac centenary celebrations in 2015.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>b)<\/strong> Retain our core Tongan relationships.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.1.6<\/strong> Continue to foster the historical Tongan bursaries program with Tupou College, Tonga.<br \/>\n<strong>5.1.7<\/strong> Visit Tupou College annually.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>c)<\/strong> Continue with trend of developing boarding as a strong element of College life.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.1.8<\/strong> Continue restoration of our traditional rural and regional boarding numbers and seek to expand numbers when the facility upgrade occurs.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Priority 5.2 Our School Today<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>d)<\/strong> Foster formal and informal opportunities for families to actively participate in the education of their sons.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.2.1<\/strong> Create a dynamic and vibrant community within the wider College family, based around the need for quality relationships as the core of all our activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>e)<\/strong> Develop further opportunities to link, interact and engage with our neighbouring schools across a range of areas.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.2.2<\/strong> Collaborate with IB and near geographic schools in<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>joint IBDP courses;<\/li>\n<li>creative arts events in drama, music, visual arts, literature festivals and awards<\/li>\n<li>staff professional development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>f)<\/strong> Implement best practice in relation to corporate governance.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.2.3<\/strong> Maintain the College Council focus on good governance practices. This will include ongoing governance professional development for members of the College Council.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Priority 5.3 Towards the Future<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>g)<\/strong> Establish Early Learning Education Centres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.3.1<\/strong> Explore possibilities for setting up Early Learning Centres for Lindfield and Wyvern. If viable, develop a promotional awareness communications strategy for the ELC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>h)<\/strong> Develop strategies to further strengthen Lindfield Prep as an important element of the College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.3.2<\/strong> Conduct demographic study to determine trends and the changing demographic patterns in the suburbs from which we draw our boys.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Priority 5.4 Valuing Community<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>i)<\/strong> Regularly communicate with boys, parents and members of the wider College community as we strive for more effective feedback on policies and practices in our constant quest for improvement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.1<\/strong> Effectively communicate school information in a timely and informative manner.<br \/>\n<strong>5.4.2<\/strong> Promote and celebrate Newington community initiatives and successes.<br \/>\n<strong>5.4.3<\/strong> Seek and report on annual qualitative and quantitative feedback from our community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>j)<\/strong> Serve the wider community \u2013 locally, nationally and internationally through our extensive Service Learning programs. Plus continue to improve our \u2018Public Purpose Impact\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.4<\/strong> Build relational and service-oriented links between the College and rural Australia and overseas.<br \/>\n<strong>5.4.5<\/strong> Maintain our membership obligations, responsibilities and participation with the IBO, AIME and Uniting Church social justice initiatives.<br \/>\n<strong>5.4.6<\/strong> Continue to develop our \u201cpublic purpose\u201d impact \u2013 how do we contribute to society.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>k)<\/strong> Acknowledge and celebrate the continuing role of the Old Newingtonians Union and The 70 Club.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.7<\/strong> Initiate ONU reunions, back to College visits and mentor programs, acknowledging the invaluable contribution of the Old Newingtonians\u2019 Union and groups such as The 70 Club, Founders Society and Foundation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>l)<\/strong> Seek new ways of engaging, acknowledging and supporting the Parents &amp; Friends (P&amp;F) groups and related support groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.8<\/strong> Expand meaningful Parent Forums and Sessions on boy related issues.<br \/>\n<strong>5.4.9<\/strong> Acknowledge vital contributions of the P&amp;F groups and continue to review support opportunities and different communication strategies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>m)<\/strong> Further develop links to Alumni e.g. former parents and staff, friends of the College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.10<\/strong> Invite the wider community to initiatives at the College, e.g. Biennial Literature Festival; Biennial Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Festival (STEM); Concordia Gallery; school facilities; Centre for Ethics.<br \/>\n<strong>5.4.11<\/strong> Initiate opportunities for Alumni (ex-parents, ex-staff, friends) to engage with the College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>n)\u00a0<\/strong>Forge further links to wider educational initiatives or partnerships e.g. the university and TAFE sectors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.4.12<\/strong> Foster globalisation opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h2>Priority 5.5 Record and Information Management<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>o)<\/strong> Develop appropriate strategies to protect\u00a0and use records in a digital age.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.5.1<\/strong> Review archives storage, security, and access on a regular basis.<br \/>\n<strong>5.5.2<\/strong> Develop an enterprise approach to information management.<br \/>\n<strong>5.5.3<\/strong> Review business and educational continuity strategies.<br \/>\n<strong>5.5.4<\/strong> Foster staff, parent and boy access to policies.<br \/>\n<strong>5.5.5<\/strong> Educate for digital security.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>p)<\/strong>\u00a0Meet all Privacy Law regulations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Strategies:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>5.5.6<\/strong> Check all Privacy Law requirements are being communicated and implemented.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome to Newington College.
